Carlisle serves clients across a wide range of emerging and traditional industries, including semiconductors, biopharmaceuticals, private equity funds, the gig economy, factoring, real estate, and asset management. He has also long been engaged in advisory and consulting for tax authorities and financial departments.

Carlisle is a director of the Taxation and Finance Law Research Association under the Shanghai Municipal Law Society.

In tax disputes, Carlisle has extensive experience in handling major tax-related criminal investigations and tax audits,  as well as representing clients in tax administrative appeal/ litigation and tax-related criminal litigation. In tax compliance, he specializes in designing comprehensive tax planning strategies from both legal and tax perspectives, tailored to industry characteristics and the broader regulatory environment. His expertise includes advising on various types of corporate transactions—especially cross-border transactions—as well as mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy reorganization, equity incentive plans, investment and financing, red-chip structure establishment or dismantling, privatization of overseas-listed companies, and pre-IPO restructuring. He assists highly tax-sensitive or innovation-driven businesses such as pharmaceutical companies, private funds, online freight platforms, and live-streaming platforms in establishing and improving their tax compliance systems.
