Ricky is a distinguished JD graduate from the City University of Hong Kong, having qualified as a lawyer in Hong Kong in 2015. He specializes in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, bringing extensive experience across various litigation matters, including shareholder disputes, corporate issues, SFC regulatory matters, contractual disputes, land disputes, building management issues, tenancy disputes, debt recovery, and cross-border litigation.

In addition to his civil practice, Ricky is adept at handling criminal cases, including investigations by the ICAC, SFC, and CCB, as well as offenses such as drug trafficking. He also manages a diverse range of general practice cases, encompassing matrimonial law, probate, insolvency, money lender claims, and various applications, including company reinstatement and obtaining leave to convene Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs).

Civil Litigation Highlighted Cases (with focus on corporate/commercial litigation)

• Assisted in preparing claims against an ultimate shareholder of a listed company in Hong Kong for more than RMB 700 million;

• Assisted in defending a monetary claim involving more than HKD 700 million on behalf of a group of Hong Kong companies;

• Assisted in handling arbitration proceedings with a claim involving more than USD 1 million; and

• Assisted in preparing a claim for investment dispute against a listed company for more than RMB 7 million;

• Assisted in preparing a claim for breach of contract about HKD 270 million on behalf of a sizeable private company in relation to some PRC investment projects;

• Assisted in handling application for receivership and/or injunction in relation to the majority shares of a state-owned cement manufacturer; and

• Derivative actions/double derivative actions under common law and/or section 732 of Cap. 622;

• 香港特別行政區訴莫海光及蕭健煌(DCCC 775 of 2019) – Successfully defended perjury and fraud charges against D2;

• Assisted in handling cases involving SFC investigation against shareholders, directors of listed companies; and

• Handling mitigation in the trafficking of dangerous drug case involving 502kg of cocaine.
